I give a unique, customized, natural and beautiful lift with a rapid recovery. I DO NOT believe in or endorse the many named lifts (like weekend lift, 3 day lift, lifestyle lift, liquid lift etc). I believe in a long lasting lift, which not only rejuvenates but beautifies and compliments your face. It takes 1 week for most patients to resume normal activity except for strenuous excercise. The perception and creation of beauty in a face is an artistic innate quality which can be observed by looking at a surgeon's results, unrelated to training or experience. That being said, training and experience provide the tools necessary to achieve that goal, but are insufficient in and of themselves.

Face Lift Combined with A Neck Lift

Bazaar - magazine 29 Nov

Dr. Rizk Featured in Harper's Bazaar, December 2012 - "The New Neck-Lifts"

Facelift and Neck lift surgery is often performed together and carried out in a one- operation surgery similar to other types of facial cosmetic surgery, such as an eyelid (blepharoplasty), brow lift or chin implant procedure that performs at the same time with a facelift surgery.

Neck lift can sometimes be referred to as a chin or neck liposuction that helps to give a more refined look for the jaw line. It is a procedure in which the surgeon removes the excess fat and tightens the loose and sagging skin due to aging or weight loss beneath the patient’s chin connected to the neck area. Our doctor, New York based facial plastic surgeon mentioned that not every patient needs a full facelift and neck lift. For example, patients in their early 40’s usually only need a partial facelift or a lower facelift instead of a lower facelift and neck lift procedure that is more common for patients in their late 40’s. A combined procedure of facelift and neck lift is more frequently found in patients in their 50’s and patients in their 60’s are suited better with a full facelift and neck lift for a more dramatic change of aging, looking younger and improving their appearance.

There are a few concerns that many patients have before deciding to get a facelift with neck lift surgery; some patients may have one or more of these problems.

These are the most common factors:

  • Having a turkey waddle neck (can correct by a Platysmaplasty neck surgery)
  • Having an excess and sagging looking skin in the neck region (can correct by a Cervicoplasty surgery)
  • Having excess fat around the neck that make it looks like a double chin (can correct by a neck liposuction)

There are three main surgical procedures for a neck lift that were designed to deal with these specific problems:

Platysmaplasty: It is one of the neck lift surgical procedures that New York Facial Plastic Surgeon, Our doctor recommended to correct the turkey waddle neck problem. For this procedure, the surgeon usually removes and/or alters the neck muscles. The small incisions are usually made under the patient’s chin and/or behind the ears in order to hide possible scar tissues. For a less invasive procedure, NYC Facial Plastic Surgeon Expert Our doctor incorporates his practice with 3D high definition endoscopes for safe and precise work with a speedup healing process. Our doctor will use his surgical tools to manipulate the neck bands accordingly and sometimes if appropriate, may need to remove some of the muscles in order to get rid of the unwanted band lines before inserting the Endotine ribbon band and tissue glues to put them back in place before redraping them.

Cervicoplasty: Is it a surgical procedure that was designed specially to deal with an excess skin problem within the neck region. Similar to Platysmaplasty surgery, the surgeon makes small incisions under the chin and/or behind the ears then removes or trims excess skin before lifting them back in place and ensures the sites of surgery by using tissues glues and/or sutures.

Neck Liposuction: A neck liposuction is a common surgical procedure that is used in patients that have excess fat under the chin and neck. It is a problem that sometimes makes them look like they have double chin. During the liposuction procedure, the surgeon will make a small incision underneath the chin. Some surgeons, such as NYC Facial Plastic Surgeon Our doctor, may use high definition endoscopes (a small camera-like tube) to insert inside for a clearer view resulting in better work with rapid recovery. After the excess fat has been removed, the surgeon stitches the incision site in place.

New York Facial Plastic Surgeon Our doctor created his signature facelift and neck lift surgery using a deep plane facelift for mid-facelift, lower-facelift and neck lift for a subtle natural look, with a longevity that may last over 10-15 years after the surgery. Sometimes Our doctor also incorporates his facelift and neck lift surgery with the use of the Endotine Ribbon, various tissue glues and herbal supplements to speed up the recovery period, resulting in rapid recovery. The dressing will be removed the day after the surgery, NYC based Facial Plastic surgeon Our doctor does not use the drains with his patients after the surgery, but instead uses tissue glues in order to eliminate the pain of having the drains, which results in minimal pain after the surgery. Most of Our doctor’s patients were able to look presentable within 7 days after the surgery. The stitches may be removed after 7-10 days after the surgery. Patients may experience a “tightness” feeling in the face and neck areas for about 2 weeks after facelift and neck lift surgery, which is considered a common symptom. Makeup can be worn after 7 days post-operative surgery.

55 year old female underwent facelift/necklift and midline platysmaplasty to remove excess fat under chin and tie muscle muscle together in the middle. Our doctor achieves his jawline definition by combining the midline platysmaplasty with the facelift for a maximal and long lasting improvement in the neck in situations where there is fat under the platysma muscle such as this patient.
